- films substitute the time consuming and cost-intensive painting process. The film consists of 4 co-extruded, thermoplastic layers and displays a Class A – surface finish.
All colours and metallic effects are possible. All colour matchings are carried out directly by the colour laboratory of the Senoplast Group. The surface of the film consists of PMMA – the stiffest thermoplastic on the plastic sector. PMMA shows excellent scratch resistance. At present the material is successfully in use for the interior and exterior of motor vehicles.
The films can be transformed into finished car body parts by means of technologies such as back-injection with thermoplastics or back-foaming with polyurethane foam. After extrusion at Senco (Europe) our customers thermoform the films and trim them by use of laser-cutting, die-cutting and CNC-milling. The trimmed part is placed in a form and back-injected or back-foamed with the reinforcement material.
The requirements on the whole part concerning stiffness, temperature resistance, linear thermal expansion and crash-behaviour need to be fulfilled by the whole part and depend on the reinforcement material. Glass fibre reinforced, amorphous thermoplastics and PU-foam systems have already been used successfully to date.
