Back-foaming of thermoformed senotop
- films offers advantages for flat components or for components with a large surface, where machines and tools for back-injecting would be very cost-intensive. When back-foaming with the LFI (Long-Fibre-Injection) – method, a mixture of long glass fibres and PU (Polyurethane) - foam is applied to the reverse of a senotop-thermoformed part. This process sets high requirements on the cleanliness of the production area. Concerning surface defects this technology is clearly less critical compared to back-injecting.
Back-foaming with protective film is already used in serial production.
After the curing of the PU glass mix one receives components with high rigidity and high heat distortion temperature at low dead weight.
